Sharmistha Mukherjee, daughter of late President and veteran Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee, has openly lauded Prime Minister Modi, describing him as the right person to lead the nation at this highly critical juncture in world politics.
Speaking about the current political landscape, she characterized Modi as one of the strongest prime ministers in post-independence India, noting that his administration has provided the country with a remarkably strong and stable government.
Reflecting on her father’s perspective, she recalled that Pranab Mukherjee viewed the 2014 election as a historic milestone, marking the first time India elected a prime minister in the truest sense, with the public voting directly for the leader himself rather than a disparate coalition.
Notwithstanding her strong praise, Mukherjee maintained a balanced view on the history of Indian governance, emphasizing that every prime minister has made significant contributions to nation-building, and concluding that no individual leader or government is ever entirely perfect.
