Rise of the Community: Owaisi Calls for Independent Muslim Leadership

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has declared that the Muslim community no longer needs figures like Gandhi or Nehru, urging community members to rise and build their own independent political leadership.

Speaking at a rally in Azamgarh, Owaisi sharply criticized mainstream opposition parties, including the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress, accusing them of treating Muslim voters as a passive vote bank without offering meaningful political empowerment or representation in return.
“We no longer need a Gandhi or a Nehru; we need our own leaders,” Owaisi stated, emphasizing that relying on conventional secular parties has repeatedly failed to secure the community’s core interests or stop the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He reiterated that Muslim voters are not anyone’s “personal property” and called for self-reliance, unity, and a shift toward independent political strength.
