CBI takes over investigation into CJP’s Leaders

The Delhi Police has officially transferred the investigation of both First Information Reports registered against Cockroach Janta Party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka to its specialized Crime Branch unit.
The decision to reassign the cases from local police stations to the Crime Branch was taken in view of the sensitive and high-profile nature of the matter, ensuring an exhaustive and impartial probe. The two separate cases stem from an incident on October 13, wherein the leaders and other party members allegedly bypassed security barricades and trespassed into the Jantar Mantar area, which had recently been denotified as a designated protest site.

The legal proceedings involve multiple charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including house-trespass, criminal conspiracy, disobedience of a public servant’s order, and voluntarily obstructing police personnel from performing their official duties. Following the transfer, the Crime Branch has taken charge of the case diaries and initiated its formal investigative procedures, which include issuing summons to the concerned individuals to join the ongoing probe.
