The Mumbai Police have hit a diplomatic deadlock with the
MNS Chief Raj Thackeray after he firmly refused to delete a controversial thirty-six minute short documentary titled
“The Friendship Files” from his digital platforms. Reports indicate that law enforcement officials, facing intense external pressure, urged the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief to take down the video, which focuses heavily on the business operations of the Adani Group and its connection to political leadership.
Thackeray remained completely defiant during the exchange, telling authorities to take whatever action they deem necessary rather than complying with the removal request. The high-profile documentary had already accumulated millions of views across social media channels before the police intervention. Cyber law enforcement officials had previously issued legal notices to dozens of internet users who shared the media asset, alleging that the content contained disparaging statements. Thackeray’s refusal to back down has left city administrators in a complex legal and political stalemate regarding enforcement boundaries.
