The prestigious ceremony, which was originally held in 1954, is among the nation”s oldest award ceremonies.
From stellar performances to hilarious pranks and cute PDA moments, the star-studded event has had them all.

Such moments have left an indelible mark in the hearts of film lovers ever since the Filmfare Awards were instituted. Sometimes touching, at times funny, but always memorable.

In 1993 Shah Rukh Khan surprised one and all when he dedicated his first Filmfare Award to his late mother in 1993. Reminiscing how he had rushed home to show his mother the first trophy he had won at school only to find her not there..Shah Rukh raised his trophy to the sky saying in cho voice, This one”s for you mom.

Despite Meena Kumari bedridden over a broken arm, she committed to be there to present Waheeda Rehman with the Best Actress award for Guide. But, she was conspicuous by her absence on the night of the awards. She showed up an hour later in a white silk sari that made her seem like a million bucks, and with her one functional hand, she honoured her bestie Waheeda Rehman with the award.

IS Johar was to present the award for the Best Comedian that year. When he came on stage, he picked up the trophy and furiously headed for the mike. He was annoyed with the injustice done to him. He had never won a Filmfare Award and believed he deserved it most of all. He also said he would have to present this award to a “totally unknown” actor Jonny Walker for Shikar. However as he handed over the trophy he broke into a smile, making the audience also burst into laughter.

Amjad Khan was all prepared to emcee the show in 1979. But on the eve of the show, while he was driving back from a late night shoot, a truck crashed into his car and broke his leg. The big built actor, however, possessed an equally big heart. He promised to come in a wheelchair if Filmfare couldn’t find a replacement in time. But Randhir Kapoor and Deven Verma came to the rescue and hosted the show. The duo brought the house down with their hilarious gags and commentary.

Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan were nothing short of iconic when they hosted the Filmfare Awards, especially in 2008. Infact they made roasting popular before the term was even a thing. From joking about their flop films to their iconic Na Real moment with Vidya Balan, the duo left everyone in peels of laughter and none were offended by their jokes.
