World leaders reach New Delhi for G20 Summit Proud Moment for India
The two-day G20 Summit begins tomorrow and world leaders have descended in Delhi. They were welcomed in the most traditional manner. It is a matter of pride for India that such top World Leaders are in Delhi for the Summit. This shows the relationship P.M. Modi shares with the World leaders.
U.S. President Joe Biden landed in New Delhi Friday among a host of world leaders to attend the G20 summit in India’s capital.
Other world leaders are
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, EU Commission head Ursula von der Leyen, African Union President Azali Assoumani, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Australia PM Anthony Albanese, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is leading his country’s delegation, as President Vladimir Putin, who has an arrest warrant over the Ukraine War and has not traveled overseas for some time, will not attend.
Even Leaders of countries not part of the G20 but have been invited are also in Delhi, including PM Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh and the PM of Mauritius.
The G20 comprises the world’s 19 largest economies and the European Union which contains 27 countries. India currently has the rotating chairmanship of the G20.
