The G20 Summit 2023 hosted in Delhi was a witness to the arrival of top international leaders which proved the bond shared amidst India and the world at large.

Their visit to the meet speaks volumes for the love they share with the country and its leader.

“Thank you so much for this visit and your efforts to preserve this part of your history,” this comment was left by French President Emmanuel Macron in Qutub Minar’s visitor book.

In the midst of the tight schedule of the G20 Summit, the world leaders managed to take a moment to immerse themselves in the rich history of Delhi by exploring iconic heritage sites such as Humayun’s Tomb and Qutub Minar. The International visitors were quite awed and taken in by the architectural marvels of India.

Comment by Dutch economist and current president of the Dutch Central Bank, Klaas Knot, says he observed similarities between the famous brick minaret to Alhambra’s Islamic architecture.

Many European Commission representatives visited UNESCO heritage site. Heiko von der Leyen, spouse of the EU President, while expressing his appreciation for the historical and artistic significance of the place, remarked – what a great place of history and art! Thank you so much for this experience.

Notedly, the spouses of the participating G20 Heads of State were also taken to an exhibition organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare at IARI Campus. Being the Year of Millets, the group was given a full-course meal where this nutritious grain took centre stage as the key ingredient.

The spouses, however, were also shown around the National Gallery of Modern Art where the ‘Roots and Routes’ exhibition was showcased.

According to museum officials, it is “an exhibition dedicated to India’s civilisation prowess and artistic excellence”. The 500-piece exhibition will also display Indian antiquities and sculptures, pre-modern paintings and manuscripts, sourced from various central government museums and galleries and ASI’s site museums, becoming the first-ever showcase that puts up all these priceless objects in one place. All the works being displayed here are originals from various government repositories.
