Cine Workers’ Association urge Indian Filmmakers to desist from shooting In Maldives

In the midst of the India-Maldives row, the All India Cine Workers Association has urged the Indian Film Industry to desist from shooting their films in Maldives.
Speaking to a news agency, AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal asserted that “Maldives government has asked the Indian government to withdraw the Indian Army from their islands by March 15.
Few days ago, some Maldives ministers had used derogatory words against PModi Modi. After this, a boycotting trend emerged that Maldives was started in India. He urged all the Indian filmmakers to refrain from shooting their films in Maldives and that one should visit Maldives for their vacation as they have been doing so.
Further, following the incident, Maldives is facing a boycott from Indian tourists, one of its biggest sources of tourism income.
In the face of the online furore, the Maldivian government has distanced itself from the remarks against PM Modi.
Notably, the removal of Indian troops in the Maldives was the main campaign of Muizzu’s party. As of now, there are around 70 Indian troops, along with Dornier 228 maritime patrol aircraft and two HAL Dhruv helicopters, stationed in the Maldives.
Notedly, assuming office the 2nd day, Muizzu officially made a request to the Indian government to withdraw its military personnel from the Maldives.
In December last, President Muizzu claimed that, after dialogue with the Indian government, an agreement was reached to withdraw Indian military personnel.
