Kavita Chaudhary TV actress and producer succumbs to heart attack
A big setback to television industry asTelevision actress Kavita Chaudhary, best recognised for her role of an IPS officer in Doordarshan’s Udaan, breathed her last on Thursday, February 15, following an heart attack in Amritsar.
Her last rites were performed on Friday morning.
Kavita emerged popular in the 80’s and 90’s and became an household name after featuring in several TV shows on Doordarshan.. She was also a part of shows like “Your Honour” “Apradhi Kaun” and “IPS Diaries” Udaan was a very popular TV show and she has won immense appreciation for her performance.
Kavita was the younger sister of police officer Kanchan Chaudhary Bhattacharya, who was the second woman officer in Indian Police Service (IPS) in India. Reportedly, Kavita made the show Udaan on the life of her sister. The show aired from 1989 to 1991. It was re-telecast on Doordarshan in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic.
Apart TV shows, Kavita is remembered for playing Lalitaji in popular Surf commercials.
A report reveals that Kavita was a benchmate of actors Anang Desai, Satish Kaushik, Anupam Kher and Govind Namdev at the National School of Drama.
According to Anang Desai, Kavita had cancer a few years ago, however, she didn’t want people to know about it. He spoke to her around fifteen days ago when she was in Mumbai, and was not keeping too well. Kavita’s nephew informed him of her death.
