Vikrant Massey returns from paternity-resumes shoot for
“The Sabarmati Report”
In January Vikrant Massey headlined for ‘The Sabarmati’ which centres round on the real-life episode of the burning of the Sabarmati Express in 2002.
Even as director Ranjan Chandel’s political thriller rolled in December 2023 in Ahmedabad, the leading man had taken a paternity leave in the first week of February to be by wife Sheetal Thakur’s side.
It is now learnt that the Vikrant has resumed the shoot underway at Madh Island.
On February 27, 2002, 59 Hindu pilgrims on their return from Ayodhya were killed in a blaze that engulfed in four coaches of the Sabarmati Express near Godhra railway station in Gujarat. It had led to one of the worst communal riots in Gujarat.
The Ektaa R Kapoor production sees Vikrant Massey and Raashii Khanna play journalists who investigate the cause of the fire.
A source reveals that since January, Ranjan has been persisteny shooting on a huge set in Madh Island, where art director Rajat Poddarr and his production design team have built replicas of trains and the Godhra railway station.
Vikrant had informed the director beforehand that he would take a few days off in February as Sheetal and he were expecting.
So, the schedule was planned such that Ranjan and DoP Amlendu Choudhury shot portions featuring Raashii, Ridhi Dogra and the supporting cast in that window.
Vikrant was back on set a few days after welcoming his baby boy on February 7.
Notably, Vikrant and Sheetal named their newborn son Vardaan.
If things work out to plans, director will call it a wrap on The Sabarmati Report next week. The source adds, that the editing is in progresshas and likely to hit the theatres on
3 May, 2024.
