Chandni Bar sequel after 24 years-Director Madhur Bhandarkar confirms – set for December 2025 release
A Sequel to Madhur Bhandarkar directorial Chandni is confirmed. The film has been scheduled for December 2025 release. Chandni Bar is a National Award winning film released 24 years ago and featured Tabu in a powerful performance as Mumtaz, a bar dancer navigating the complexities of Mumbai’s underbelly.
But, Madhur Bhandarkar has handed over the directorial to Mohan Azad, the original film’s screenwriter and dialogue writer. Azad makes his directorial debut with this Sequel.
For Azad, the news comes ad an exciting one which is ahead of his first film “What a Kismat”
set for theatrical release on March 22, 2024.
Although, the script for
Chandni Bar 2 is nearing completion, casting details remain under wraps.
Notedly, the press note states no actors have been officially approached yet. The original film featured a stellar cast including Tabu, Atul Kulkarni, Ananya Khare, and Rajpal Yadav.
While sharing about the sequel, Mohan Azad expressed his enthusiasm and said, that the producer of this film R. Mohan had expressed this desire long ago about the sequel of
Chandni Bar about whose story they were very confused.
In a press release he said that he feels happy that they have written the story of this sequel film in a tremendous manner and he is for sure that he will be able to repeat the same success of Chandni Bar
once again in the coming year.
