It’s a well-known fact in the tinselville that Sanjay Gupta and Sanjay Dutt share an unique bond and have collaborated in several films together and its been 17 years since they last collaborated.

Notedly, their fans are anticipating for their next.
In 2022, reports revealed that their collaboration is finally happening and after that, there has been no update.

In a recent interview when he was asked about reports that he and Sanjay Dutt were planning a film, Sanjay Gupta voiced that they are still planning a film together! As a matter of fact, Sanju’s manager had meet him recently. They have worked out the script and are now into working out the logistics.

Was it his first meeting with Sanjay Gupta to which the filmmaker, known for his styling and gritty films, answered, that it must have been 35-40 years ago. He was an assistant director and had met him for the first time on location. Later, we shot for a film called Thanedaar (1990) in Kodaikanal. It was amidst this outdoor schedule that the director’actor duo hit it out and turned friends.

Notably, Sanjay Dutt featured in Sanjay Gupta’s directorial debut, Aatish in 1994 which clocked 30 years on June 17. This was followed by Khauff in 2000, Jung 2000 Kaante 2002 Musafir in 2004, Dus Kahaniyaan in 2007 and the unfinished film, Alibaug. Sanjay Dutt also worked in his productions like Plan in 2004 and Shootout At Lokhandwala in 2007 which goes to prove that both have collaborated in as many as 9 films.

In a 2022 interview Sanjay Dutt confessed, that in many ways, they grew up together, holding each other’s hands and infact he newGups well and aware what he wants from him.
In the middle, Sanju’ wasn’t taking care of himself and never wanted to work with him at a time . The reason he had hit the gym is that Sanju started preparing himself to collaborate with him again getting back to home turf very soon.”

Gupta also reveals he is contemplating setting Shootout 3 out of Mumbai: “Earlier Shootout films were hits and yet, 60% of their revenue came from Maharashtra. Someone residing in Amritsar or Bathinda, what do they know about lokhandwala or Wadala kya hai?”
