Music Composer-Singer Shekhar Ravjiani opens up on losing his voice
Notwithstanding the abruptLocal paralysis, there is much more to Shekhar Ravjiani than his partnership with Vishal Dadlani. The talented musician has been keeping himself busy with various projects.
In recent years Shekhar has .been keeping an exceptionally low profile.
The past couple of years have been the most creatively rewarding for him
From releasing close to thirty independent songs through his own record label, Garuudaa Musiic to mentoring talented kids around the world through his music school, The Shekhar Ravjiani School of Music. More recently The music company has been proudly standing by his daughter Bipasha who has started her own Commercial Dance Studio – EIGHT STUDIOS in Bandra. Markedly the studio is already making big waves. He can truly say that he had lll been living his dream and have never felt happier or more alive.
About his partnership with Vishal stands and he went on to add that they are and will always be brothers and their partnership stands strong where it always has.
Shekhar has also ventured into acting in recent years. Hre I love to to challenge myself and step out of his comfort zone now and then. Acting in Ram Madhvani’s Neerja did that for him and was an experience he will always cherish. To work with such amazingly talented folk and to learn so much was a gift in itself and he has some wonderful memories of working in the film.
Shekhar does enjoy acting and dabble. in it now and then but his
music and singing will always occupy centre and he is nevertheless open to small detours now and then and am always looking for new ways to learn and grow.
Recently Shekhar shocked one all including the music fraternity by revealing that he suffered from a rare audio disability.
He lost his voice two years ago – it was diagnosed as Left Vocal Cord Paresis. He was devastated and was certain that he would no longer be able to sing again. It was the most traumatic feeling not to be able to do what he loved the most. Like a big part of him had been taken away. Through God’s grace and the efforts and guidance of Dr. Erin Walsh in the US, he was able to overcome this obstacle and regain his voice and his ability to sing. It was nothing short of a miracle. He felt the need to share this deeply personal experience as he felt that people facing a similar predicament could derive a lot of strength and hope from knowing that there is a light at the end of every tunnel.
As of now, Shekhar has fully healed and cured and in a position to sing even better than before. If there is one thing that he believe, is that with the right guidance, the love and prayers of your family and well-wishers, and your own faith in God, you can overcome anything that life throws at you. Another huge takeaway for him was never ever to take anything for granted.
Everyone are so blessed and must spend more time appreciating and valuing what they have rather than complaining. Every moment and gift that life gives you is precious.
Alka Yagnik too suffered an aural setback recently.
It’s true that musicians are more at risk of developing hearing disorders and other health problems due to their exposure to loud music and the high sound levels they produce while playing instruments or performing at concerts. However, what he went through could have happened to anyone as it was a physiological condition. Singers are bound to be more deeply affected by such a setback as their voices are their instruments.
Shekhar is all set for.his next year of independent songs for Garuudaa Musiic and he looks forward to perform the songs LIVE very soon. Besides that he has workshops planned all over the world for the kids from his music school, loads of concerts where they get to connect with their beautiful listeners and some other interesting projects in the pipeline which you will hear about very soon.
