Notedly, with over 74,060 votes, Negi emerged victorious by a margin of 28,072 votes, in accordance to data from the Election Commission of India.

Avadh Ojha of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) finished second with 45,988 votes and Congress’ Anil Kumar was at the third place with 16,549 votes.

Coming to Negi, he forcibly shut all meat shops in east Delhi’s Vinod Nagar area amidst Navratri in 2023 when he was a councillor. In a video that gathered widespread attention then, Negi was seen asking meat shops in the area to down their shutters. He went on to claim that they never used force to shut their shops, but, just requested them to do so keeping in mind the religious beliefs and sentiments of devotees.

More recently, PM Modi, in a viral video, was seen bowing to touch Negi’s feet. PM Modi was addressing an election rally in Delhi when Negi bowed to touch his feet once on stage and in response, Modi was seen bowing to touch his feet thrice.
