BMC enforces pedestrian-first’ policy
Cacks down on footpath ramps

BMC is now strictly enforcing its “pedestrian-first” policy. Once the road, drains, and footpaths are completed, no ramps obstructing walkability will be permitted

As part of the ongoing concreting of roads, the BMC is also repairing footpaths and roadside drains. Amidst this process, ramps built by societies and commercial buildings for vehicle movement were removed.

A similar issue was faced by Crescent Grande on Old Nagardas Road, Andheri East. After road work, the new street level was lowered, making it difficult for the society to construct a ramp.

Upon further investigation, it was found that the BMC is now strictly enforcing its “pedestrian-first” policy. Once the road, drains, and footpaths are completed, no ramps obstructing walkability will be permitted.
