For London bound Bhoomi Chauhan it was a blessing in disguise
Bhoomi Chauhan was
to board Air India Dreamliner AI 171 to London, where she lives with her husband. She was on a visit to India after two years and was on a holiday. The scheduled take-off of the Air India London flight was 1.10 pm.
However, she got stuck in traffic jam and arrived at the Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport airport 10 minutes later when the flight had already taken off.The boarding procedure was over at 12.10pm and she reached at 12.20pm and had reached the checking-in gate and requested them to allow her to board the flight. She told them she shall clear all the formalities quickly but they did not allow her to proceed.
Later came to know that the plane had crashed. She termed her late arrival as a
‘blessing in disguise’.
Ganpati Bappa saved her. Otherwise had she boarded the flight she would have perished in the crash.
The Bharuch resident was upset but escaped a terrifying near-death experience after she missed her crucial London-bound flight.
Air India flight 171 had crashed seconds after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at around 1.30pm. Of the 242 passengers and crew members on board, only one survived. It was one of the worst air disasters in recent times.
Bhoomi went on to narrate after she missed the flight, that she was getting ready to step out of the airport when she learnt about the crash and began shivering. Her legs started trembling and she felt numb for quite some time.
Bhoomi was scheduled to board AI 171 to travel to London, where she lives with her husband. She was visiting India after two years and was on a holiday. She, however, arrived at the Ahmedabad airport 10 minutes later after getting stuck in the traffic.
Bhoomi’s mother said she had left her child behind at home and was supposed to fly alone. “Thank God for protecting her daughter. She left her child with her and it’s all because of God’s blessings; because of that child, she is with mother. By God’s grace she returned home safely.
