Maha CM Devendra Fadnavis ‘depressed’ with Sena minister Shirsat and Junior BJP minister Misal over ‘war of letters’

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday addressed the reports of fall-out within the Mahayuti coalition, triggered by the letter war amid Shiv Sena minister Sanjay Shirsat and BJP’s minister of state (MoS) Madhuri Misal. Shirsat was against Misal holding meetings sans his approval, to which Misal shot back saying she had all the rights to hold non-policy decision meetings.
Fadnavis reacted saying first and foremost, no minister should create a controversy like this by writing letters.

He said that Ministers must discuss it amongst themselves and resolve issues. And if ministers are facing some hassles then they need to report to him. Minister and MoS are both part of the administration, with all powers that rests with the minister. Whatever powers the minister delegates, falls within the jurisdiction MoS. So, there is complete clarity on this.
Fadnavis also pointed out that Misal had a point. It’s incorrect to say that MoS has no powers to hold meetings. However, if any policy decisions have to be taken, it requires a minister’s permission.
He believes both ministers and MoS must have coordination, and if there is still some issue they can take it up with him.

Regarding the police action at a party in Pune, which was a witness to the involvement of the relative of a former cabinet minister, Fadnavis said, “he has been busy with meetings the entire day, so he doesn’t have much information and he hasn’t taken a briefing regarding it, but based on media reports it seems some drugs were found in the party,’s possession.
