MS Dhoni will be available for IPL2026
Legendary Indian wicketkeeper-batter and former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was retained for Rs 4 crore by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. And in the 2025 edition of the world’s richest franchise cricket league, he played in all 14 league matches and scored 196 runs. He even served as the captain of the team after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out due to an injury but was unable to help the five-time champions avoid the embarrassment of finishing last in the points table for the first time ever.
After CSK’s poor show in the IPL 2025, many fans and former greats feel that Dhoni won’t play in the IPL again, but Dhoni didn’t give any definite answer about his retirement after CSK’s final match of the season.
Dhoni has now hinted of his participation in the IPL 2026 as well.
In a video going viral on the internet, when asked about his cricket future, Dhoni said, he just got a tick mark for the next five years he can play cricket. But the only catch is Doc only gave a clearance for eyesight. Body, He didn’t gave a clearance for the body. But he cannot play cricket only with my eyes.”
‘CSK batting is sorted now’
Dhoni said on Saturday the return of Ruturaj Gaikwad will bolster Chennai Super Kings’ batting in the next edition of the IPL.
Dhoni further sorted out that they are a bit worried about their batting order. Rutu (Gaikwad) will be coming back. He got injured. But he will be coming back. So, we are quite sorted now.
This he revealed amidst a private function indicating that the Super Kings will retain the services of Gaikwad.
While he was delighted for the return of Gaikwad to the CSK fold, Dhoni said the team will try to further strengthen the unit through the mini-auction later this year.
Dhoni further went on to admit that the Super Kings have been well below-par over the last two seasons, but said it was important for the team to identify those grey areas.
The last couple of years have not been good for us and they have not been up to the mark. But what is important is to see the learnings.
