Sanjay Leela Bhansali is to kick-start shoot for ‘Love & War’ to begin in Madhya Pradesh’s British Army base.

“Love & War’ is one of the much-anticipated films of 2026. The period drama features real-life couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, alongside Vicky Kaushal. The team that has been on an extensive shoot in Mumbai, with some portions being planned to be filmed in Europe, is now expected to be shot shoot in Madhya Pradesh.
It is learned from the director will also shoot the film in Mhow, a town in Madhya Pradesh. A source shared that the town has an army base camp from the time of the British. As ‘Love & War’ needs a period look, the team picked the location to show the artillery used in the
pre-independence era.
⁹The team will be shooting for close to 15 days here, that with major portions requiring Vicky Kaushal and Ranbir Kapoor. As of now, they are on standby waiting for the permissions. Once that is cleared, they will fly to MP to kick-start the shoot. Mhow is the birthplace of Dr BR Ambedkar, and hence also called
Dr Ambedkar Nagar, is located around 23 km from Indore. While not confirmed, in popular literature, the acronym is said to stand for ‘Military Headquarters Of Warfare’.
Founded in 1818 by John Malcolm, the town used to be the headquarters of the 5th (Mhow) Division of the Southern Command during the British Raj. Today, it houses three premier training institutions of the Indian Army.
The source also added that following the schedule in Madhya Pradesh, the team will be flying to Italy in October for the next round of shooting. The makers also plan to wrap the shoot before 2025 ends, even though it has been reported that ‘Love & War’ has missed its deadlines and will be delayed.
Reportedly, the upcoming film is believed to be a passionate love story, set against the backdrop of a fictional war. It will also bring alive the complexities of friendship, relationships and the sacrifices that come with love.
