ove northwestwards into central Vidarbha and adjoining regions, before persisting as an upper air cyclonic circulation.

Due to this weather pattern, heavy rainfall is expected in Vidarbha for the next three days. Konkan, Goa, Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra are also likely to see heavy to very heavy showers over the next four days.

The southwest monsoon began its withdrawal on Sunday from parts of Rajasthan, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) saying conditions are favourable for further retreat over Punjab and Gujarat in the next two-three days.

Even as the normal date of withdrawal is September 17, this year the process has begun three days earlier. The onset too was afore schedule, with Kerala reporting the first monsoon showers in the last week of May instead of the usual 1 June 2025.June 1.

With kharif crops now close to harvest, the IMD has warned that excess rain could cause significant losses to farmers.
