Sandhya Shantaram passes away at 94 of age-related problems

Veteran actress and classical dancer Sandhya Shantaram breathed her last on Friday 2 October, Dussehra, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and that of Lal Bahadur Shastri former PM of india at her residence at 94.
She was best acknowledged for her performances in timeless Hindi films such as Do Aankhen Barah Haath (1957), Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje (1955), Navrang (1959), and Stree (1961),

Sandhya was married to the legendary filmmaker V. Shantaram. Her last rites were performed on Saturday morning by Kiran Shantaram (V. Shantaram’s son from his second wife).

Kiran Shantaram over his conversation with the media said that it’s sad because India has lost an iconic dancer and actress. She lived a very active life throughout and never had any health issues. After the pandemic, however, she suffered a fall and slowed down a bit.
She was a discovery of by his father when he was looking for a new face for his film “Amar Bhoopali’ and since then Sandhyaji only worked in his father’s films including ‘Do Aankhen Barah Haath’ ‘Stree’, ‘Navrang’ ‘Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje’ and ‘Jal Bin Machhli Nritya Bin Bijli’. She has performed so many dance performances in her films and the industry has lost not only a talented actress but one of the most iconic dancers in the country.

Sandhya’s collaboration with V.Shantaram resulted in some of Indian Cinema’s most visually stunning and musically rich film.

Sandhya’s grace classical training and expressive dance style
brought depth and artistry to songs viz:
“Are Jaa Re Natkat” and “Nacho Re Mera Ghungat from ‘Navrang’ and the soulful Bhajan
“Ae Malik Tere Bandhe Ham” in ‘Do Ankhen Bara Haath’.
