Saif Ali’s favourite restaurants – Mumbai’s Trishna to Florence’s Villa San Michele

Saif Ali Khan has consistently been more than just a Bollywood star. Recently, the actor appeared on the cover of Esquire India. To accompany the feature, the magazine shared a video where Khan opened up on five restaurants that bears his stamp of approval. From local Mumbai favourites to European fine dining, his list reflects his eclectic palate and passion for travel.

*Trishna, Mumbai
Closer to home, Saif swears by Trishna in Mumbai, a seafood institution best acknowledges for its tandoori crab. For the actor, the restaurant has long been a go-to for coastal flavours. He names “Best crab,” among his favourites in the city.

*Villa San Michele, Florence: Taking the conversation to Italy, Saif recalls one of the most breathtaking dining experiences of his life—Villa San Michele. The former monastery turned luxury hotel on the outskirts of Florence offers an extraordinary view. Sitting under a grand arch, diners are treated to traditional Italian fare with the entire city of Florence in sight, crowned by Brunelleschi’s dome. “The most amazing view and the most romantic table,” Saif describes.

*Brunton Boatyard, Kochi: Back in India, Saif recommends Brunton Boatyard in Kochi, a heritage hotel and restaurant overlooking the waterfront. With its colonial charm and serene setting, it offers a distinctive dining experience in Kerala, one that blends history with cuisine.

*Il Mulino, New York
For Italian food lovers in the United States, Saif spotlights Il Mulino in New York. The restaurant has a reputation for rustic yet indulgent dishes, making it a favourite among celebrities and food connoisseurs alike.

*L’Ami Louis, Paris
Saif’s Parisian pick is L’Ami Louis, a legendary bistro known for its hearty French classics. Interestingly, it also has strong Bollywood connections. “It is very popular with the Kapoors, in fact, the family I married into,” Saif notes with a smile. He fondly recalls visiting the restaurant with Kareena Kapoor Khan and describes it as a must-try spot in the French capital.

*Le Poulet au Pot, London. In London, Saif recommends Le Poulet au Pot, a rustic French eatery celebrated for its warm, homely ambience. Wooden interiors, hearty meals, and a lively atmosphere make it stand out. “It’s really beautiful… like a kitchen in the country done up,” Saif shares, calling it a lovely place to spend an evening.

From Mumbai’s seafood to romantic dining in Florence, Saif Ali Khan’s list of recommendations reflects not just his taste for fine food but also his appreciation for culture, heritage, and atmosphere.
