‘Maa Kunjapuri Mela’. Anupam posted a video message criticizing the public reprimand and unverified claims of intoxication, noting that the artist does not consume alcohol and has faced health struggles over recent years.
The controversy began when Subodh Uniyal interrupted the live performance to question the artist and air grievances about the ₹35 lakh payment for the event. The minister publicly accused Daler Mehndi of failing to deliver as expected, sparking a wave of reactions across the entertainment industry.
In response, Anupam emphasized their decades-long friendship and argued that any concerns should have been handled privately with dignity rather than turning a public stage into a place of humiliation. Brother and fellow singer Mika Singh has also spoken out in defense of the iconic performer.
