Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai from Khalnayak Madhuri’s most iconic songs.

The film released in 1993, created a nationwide frenzy for its music and daring lyrics.

The song turned out to be a cultural milestone with people grooving to its beats at every celebration. Its melody, rhythm and Alka Yagnik’s powerful voice made it a timeless classic.

Years later, that same familiar tune found a new identity in a completely different film. It was song Ringa Ringa from the film Slumdog Millionaire.

When the song was released, audiences instantly recognised the resemblance. The rhythmic pattern and folk-inspired tune reminded audiences of Madhuri’s legendary track.

Interestingly, singer Alka Yagnik revealed in a conversation that she was initially puzzled when asked to record the new song. She noted that it was made on the line of Choli Ke Peeche.

Music maestro AR Rahman then explained to her that the makers of Slumdog Millionaire actually wanted to put that same song in the film but he wanted to tweak it a little and hence, came up with Ringa Ringa.

With her signature energy, Alka recorded the track unaware that it would soon travel across the world. The song became one of the film’s standout moments, loved for its rhythm and boldness.

AR Rahman composed Ringa Ringa song was rendered by Alka Yagnik and Ila Arjun. Interestingly, both the singers had also crooned Choli Ke Peeche together.
