Throwback: When Dharmendra recalled sons Sunny Bobby don’t sit with him
Dharmendra once recalled that his sons Sunny and Bobby don’t sit with him. They tell him they are off for a shoot and leave.
Dharmendra has since returned to his Juhu home following his discharge from Breach Candy Hospital, heaving a sigh of relief not only to his family members but also to fans. Throughout his recovery both Sunny and Bobby were beside him. They had been visiting him regularly and now spending time at home as their father regains strength.
However, behind this emotional moment, an old interview of the legendary actor has resurfaced, one where Dharmendra admitted that even though his sons love and share deep respect for him, he wishes they were more comfortable simply sitting with him and talking like friends. In a conversation, he went on to reveal that the respect amid them has sometimes created distance. Dharmendra recalled that Sunny and Bobby are scared of him, and he wants them to sit with him, talk to him. Today, he feels that if his father had been his friend, it would have been so nice. They really miss certain things; friendship is very important. Dharmendra misses them.
The Bollywood legend shared that this longing reminded him of his own bond with his father. He recalled, he used to see his father sitting on a chair, talking to the watchman, resting his head on his hand, always thinking about something. So he would ask, ‘Babuji, what happened? Do you need something? Tell me, I’ll bring it.’ He would say, ‘No son, I have servants, a house, everything. What do I need? Just come home early from your shoots, sit with me for a while.’”
