Aamir Khan puts to rest rumours – confirms Lokesh Kanagaraj Film
Aamir Khan has put to rest all rumours that Lokesh Kanagaraj project has been shelved following his
‘Coolie’ cameo.
Reportedly, the Aamir Khan and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s
much-hyped film is happening. The actor has eventually stepped in to calm the rumours around his much-talked-about film with Lokesh Kanagaraj. Instead of distancing himself from the project, the actor made it clear that discussions are still active giving fans fresh hope that the big action film hasn’t been put on the back burner.
He is still in talks with Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Speaking at the 23rd Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, Aamir confirmed that the two are waiting to reconnect for a narration.
Adding that Lokesh and he are supposed to meet up. They spoke last month and he said he will be visiting Mumbai at some point, and they will go through the narration. So, that is on the cards as of now.
The update directly counters reports claiming the project had been cancelled after Aamir’s cameo in Kanagaraj’s recent release, Coolie, received a lukewarm response. No official word was ever released by either side, but speculation had grown stronger over the past few weeks.
Notably, Kanagaraj remains one of Tamil cinema’s most in-demand directors, with blockbusters like Vikram, Leo, Master, and Kaithi to his credit. His film with Aamir would mark his Bollywood debut, and the actor had earlier confirmed that they were developing a “big-scale superhero action film” aimed at going on floors in the second half of next year.
Meanwhile, plans are afoot by Aamir for a collaboration with director Rajkumar Hirani on a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke, regarded as the father of Indian cinema.
Media reports now suggest that this project has been put to rest due to creative differences.
Aamir’s brief role in Coolie also sparked fresh interest in what he’ll do next. In the film, Rajinikanth plays Deva, a daily wage worker seeking justice for his friend’s mysterious death. Aamir appears in the final act as Dahaa, a crime syndicate leader linked to organ trafficking, and his cameo ends with a clear threat that hints at more to come.
With his new statement, the focus has now shifted back to his planned film with Lokesh Kanagaraj. The narration meeting is still pending, but Aamir has made it clear that the project is very much still open.
