Raja Rani” clocks 53 years of its release
Notably the Veteran filmmaker J.Om Prakash produced and Sachin Bhowmick written and directorial “Raja Rani” theatrically released on this day of 26 January 1973(Republic Day)
The film featured superstar Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore supported by
Sujit Kumar, Farida Jalal, Dulari and Asit Sen with Mumtaz making a guest appearance.
The film conveyed a message for society to give an opportunity to those marginalised people, who have been thrust into a life of crime to redeem their right to live as honest, law abiding citizen.
Music was scored by RD Burman and includes “Main Ek Chor Tu Meri Rani” and “Jab Andhera Hota Hai” which plays throughout the film as a theme song and is one of the highlights, won for Asha Bhonsle a Filmare nomination.
Rajesh Khanna’s attire through the film was sleeveless shirt, trousers, leather belt, shoes without socks and a black cap which he carried off stylishly.
