Amul celebrates Boong’s historic BAFTA feat with creative new topical
To celebrate the historic victory of the Manipuri film ‘Boong’ at the 2026 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Amul has released a creative topical.
The dairy brand’s illustration, featuring the film’s lead child character with a slice of buttered bread, was released on Instagram with a pun-filled caption: “Boongratulaions! Amul…You BAFTA have it”.
Boong is the first Indian film to bag the award for Best Children’s and Family Film directed by Lakshmipriya Devi and
produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment, in collaboration with Chalkboard Entertainment and Suitable Pictures.
Plot: Set in Manipur, the story follows a young boy named Boong (played by Gugun Kipgen) who goes on a journey with his best friend to find his missing father.
Significance: The film beat international competitors including Zootopia 2, Lilo & Stitch, and Arco, making it a landmark moment for regional Indian cinema.
The team, including director Lakshmipriya Devi and producer Farhan Akhtar, attended the ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
Notably, Amul is acknowledged for its topical, wit-filled ads that commemorate significant national and international events.
The film beautifully captures innocence, emotions, and the strong bond between a mother and her child.
Boong won BAFTA in the Best Children’s and Family Film category. It was nominated alongside films such as Ugo Bienvenu’s French animated science fiction film Arco, Dean Fleischer Camp’s live-action animated comedy from Hollywood, Lilo & Stitch, besides Jared Bush and Byron Howard’s Hollywood animated comedy, Zootropolis 2, also known as Zootopia 2 in some markets.
Amidst her acceptance speech at BAFTA, Lakshmipriya Devi said, “To walk up till here felt like the last few steps to reach a summit of a mountain we never knew we were climbing in the first place.”
She merely wants to use this opportunity to say that they pray for peace to return to Manipuri and also pray that all the internally displaced children, including the child actors in the film, regain their joy, their innocence, and their dream once again.
Lakshmipriya in.her concluding remarks, emphasised the significance of resilience and forgiveness.
