“Sarkar 4” with Amitabh and Abhishek
According to reports the maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is officially developing the fourth installment of his acclaimed political thriller franchise, Sarkar 4, with Amitabh Bachchan.
The film is scheduled to go into production in the first half of 2026.
Reportedly, Amitabh Bachchan has given his verbal approval to reprise his iconic role. Reports also indicate that Abhishek Bachchan is expected to return as Shankar Nagre, regardless his character killed in Sarkar Raj relessed in 2008 suggesting a major twist in the storyline.
Reports further reveals that following his initial hesitancy to extend the franchise, RGV has agreed to direct this new, revamped story.
The script is currently being written, with the storyline focusing on the transformed political landscape of Maharashtra, aiming to re-establish the “legacy” of the Nagre empire.
This announcement follows years of speculation and earlier, shelved plans to continue the franchise with other directors.
