CM Fadnavis says Mumbai will not be allowed to move towards ‘gang wars’

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also holds the home portfolio, on March 18 stated in the Legislative Council that Mumbai will not be allowed to move towards gang wars.

Reacting to concerns regarding the systematic targeting of film celebrities specifically the recent firing incident at filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Juhu—Fadnavis assured the industry and citizens that the government will not tolerate a return to the gang violence of previous decade.
Celebrities need not panic, as the government is providing necessary security cover.

Fadnavis further ensured that the Bishnoi gang operatives behind recent threats will be “finished” or brought to justice, emphasizing that no gang will be allowed to establish itself in Mumbai.
CM informed that 12-13 people have been arrested in connection with the attack on Rohit Shetty’s house, and the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) has been invoked.
The state has written to the Centre seeking the custody of Anmol Bishnoi brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi deported from the United States, to investigate his links to these incidents.

The CM suggested that some threats are issued for publicity, but praised the Mumbai Police for their swift action in tackling the extortion attempts and firing incidents targeting the film fraternity.
