Salman Khan starrer “Mathrubhumi”release deferred

Salman Khan’s upcoming war drama, Maatrubhumi (formerly titled Battle of Galwan), has officially been delayed from its planned early April 2026 release. The postponement follows the tragic passing of actor-singer Prashant Tamang in January 2026, who played the key antagonist in the film.

Prashant Tamang’s sudden death left several crucial scenes incomplete, creating a significant production gap.

The makers are currently in a dilemma, considering either recasting the role or utilizing advanced VFX/AI techniques to complete the pending scenes.

The film was initially named Battle of Galwan before being changed to Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace.

The initial April release is officially cancelled, with speculation that the film might now target an Independence Day 2026 release, though this is not confirmed.

The Apurva Lakhia directorial features Salman Khan and Chitrangada Singh.
The team is currently working on overcoming these logistical and emotional challenges to finish the production without compromising the story.
