Kavita Krishnamurthy shared a mistake in song “Hawa Hawai” from “Mr India”

Recently renowned singer Kavita Krishnamurthy in an interview admitted to a lyrical mistake in the iconic song
“Hawa Hawai” from the 1987 Shekhar Kapur directorial film Mr. India, which was retained in the final version because the composers felt it matched Sridevi’s energetic performance.
Intended lyrics was “Jaanu jo tumne baat chupayi”
What she sang: “Jeenu jo tumne baat chupayi”

The singer shared that she was initially meant only to dub the song for trial purposes and was supposed to be replaced by Asha Bhosle. However, music directors Laxmikant-Pyarelal decided to keep her version, noting that the error was unnoticeable and added to the fun, chaotic energy of the song.
Another word for “Jeenu” in this context is Jaanu (meaning ‘darling’ or ‘beloved’), but the error remains iconic to this day.
