Despite Dhurandhar having turned out to be an unprecedented success Aditya Dhar and his production house, B62 Studios, are navigating significant legal challenges regarding their blockbuster film.. The legal action stems from two distinct disputes:
Trimurti Films has filed a lawsuit against Dhar’s production company regarding the alleged unauthorized use of the song “Rang De Lal” (Oye Oye), which is a recreated version of “Tirchi Topiwale” from the 1989 film Tridev.
Filmmaker Santosh Kumar RS accused Dhar of stealing the script for Dhurandhar 2 from his own work, “D Saheb.” This dispute was resolved when Kumar apologised to the Bombay High Court, which then closed the defamation case filed by Dhar.
The Delhi High Court had referred the “Oye Oye” song dispute to mediation, but reports in May 2026 confirmed that talks broke down.
The lawsuit alleging copyright infringement, unauthorized reproduction, and communication to the public is moving forward, with a hearing scheduled for early May 2026.
While the script allegation was withdrawn, the music copyright lawsuit remains a major hurdle for the film’s producers.
The Karnataka High Court dismissed a plea from Santosh Kumar seeking to cancel the CBFC certification for Dhurandhar 2.
The Bombay High Court closed the defamation suit against Kumar after he apologized and agreed to stop making defamatory claims regarding the script’s origin.Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has continued to report strong box office figures despite these legal challenges, with the case highlighting the increasing legal scrutiny surrounding the reuse of music and intellectual property in modern Indian cinema.
