Aankhiyon Se Goli Maare” from the film Dulhe Raja (1998).The folk song and the promise behind it traces back to an informal evening at T-Series founder Gulshan Kumar’s home. Gulshan Kumar called lyricist Sameer into his bedroom, humming a rustic Bhojpuri folk tune (“Jab se sipahi se bhaile havaldar, nathuniya se goli maare saiyan humaar…”). He had heard it on his travels across Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Handing over the tune, Gulshan Kumar gave Sameer his word and requested him to “make something magical out of this”. Sameer took the song to music directors Anand-Milind. They worked through the night to transform the rustic tune into the iconic peppy Bollywood track. Thus the Bhojpuri
Folk tune emerged and turned out to be a popular song.
