Rajpal Yadav addresses the Rs 5 Crore controversy

Actor Rajpal Yadav publicly dismissed the Rs 5 crore fraud allegations, stating it was a misunderstood business dispute and not a massive scam. He clarified that if the amount had been purely a loan, it shouldn’t be framed as fraud, and stressed that his past jail stint was a “matter of principle” rather than an inability to pay.

Actor Rajpal Yadav has firmly denied the Rs 5 crore fraud allegations, clarifying that the dispute stems from a film investment that was sensationalised. He argued that if legitimate loan paperwork was in place, labelling the transaction as fraud was “unnecessary publicity” meant to damage his directorial project.

Yadav stated that Rs 5 crore was a partial investment toward his 2012 directorial debut, Ata Pata Laapata. He argued that a film failing at the box office does not mean wrongdoing or fraud.
He claimed that the dispute eventually cost the project an estimated Rs 17 to 22 crore. According to the actor, the controversy unfairly jeopardized the film’s release and its stakeholders even after 70% of it had been shot.
