In a new state of affairs, the Madras High Court ordered the omission of TVK leaders C. Joseph Vijay (Tamil Nadu Chief Minister) and ‘Bussy’ N. Anand (Minister) from a writ petition regarding the appointment of law officers in Villupuram district.

The judge removed their names after the petitioner’s counsel agreed not to press the case against them, noting they appeared to have been included simply “to hit the headlines.
M. Gnanasoundari, a lawyer and TVK District Joint Secretary in Villupuram, had alleged irregularities and bribery in the selection of Government Advocates.

Meanwhile Justice Mohammed Shaffiq closed the plea after the State’s Advocate General clarified that the appointments were only temporary.
The court retained only the Law Secretary and the Villupuram Collector in the case.
