SRK’s high-stakes global-box office showdown “King”Locked for X’Mas 2026 release

SRK’s Production House
Red Chillies Entertainment has put all delay rumors to rest by confirming that Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated action-thriller, King, remains firmly scheduled for its global theatrical release on December 24, 2026.

Dismissing speculation of a postponement to 2027, the film’s schedule is fully locked. It is officially positioned as the definitive holiday cinematic event.

The Christmas 2026 window is pacing to be one of the most competitive in box office history. King will launch directly into a historic multi-franchise face-off against premier Hollywood juggernauts. The film is set to compete head-on for premium global screens and IMAX formatting alongside:

Avengers: Doomsday (Marvel Studios)
Dune: Part Three (Warner Bros. Pictures)
Jumanji: Open World (Sony Pictures)

Trade analysts note that the mid-December arrival of these global franchises poses an aggressive challenge for screen sharing and premium format allocation worldwide. However, the decision by King’s makers to bypass early December was highly deliberate. By selecting December 24, the film maintains a strategic 45-day clearance window behind the mythological epic Ramayana, preventing theatrical overlap and maximizing single-screen potential across domestic territories.
Production Scale and Ensemble Cast
Siddharth Anand (Pathaan, Fighter) directorial co-written alongside Sujoy Ghosh, the marquee project features a massive production budget.
The narrative centers on a dark, emotionally charged gritty universe showcasing a mentor-disciple survival arc.

The landmark film features a sprawling powerhouse ensemble cast:
Shah Rukh Khan in a relentless, darker action avatar
Suhana Khan making her high-profile theatrical debut
Abhishek Bachchan stepping into a major adversarial role
Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, and Rani Mukerji anchoring prime roles
Principal photography spans multi-country international legs, including extensive filming across Warsaw, Gdansk, Cape Town, and Mumbai.

Anticipation for King has already generated extraordinary market momentum. Early trade statements indicate the film has secured an estimated ₹250 crore through non-theatrical revenues alone, covering a vast footprint across advance satellite, digital streaming, and music rights before any formal trailer rollout. Industry analysts project the action spectacle to be Bollywood’s primary contender for the ₹1,000-crore milestone, leveraging the holiday footprint through the Republic Day corridor.
