In a recent clarification addressing circulating social media commentary, Annu Kapoor candidly noted that he is genuinely unfamiliar with several prominent contemporary mainstream actors, explicitly mentioning names such as Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, and Vicky Kaushal.
The seasoned actor explained that his lack of awareness stems from his personal viewing habits and detached engagement with modern commercial celebrity culture rather than any intentional dismissal.
Furthermore, Annu Kapoor firmly distanced himself from generalized disparaging remarks regarding the acting abilities of modern performers. Referencing critical commentary by fellow veteran Naseeruddin Shah regarding contemporary actors and their craft, Annu Kapoor voiced strong disagreement. He expressed clear displeasure at sweeping negative evaluations of younger talent, asserting that dedicated working actors deserve respect and that harsh, sweeping dismissals of their craft are unwarranted.
