Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration has officially suspended the food manufacturing and service licence of M/s BJRS Gallops Restaurant, located within the Royal Western India Turf Club premises at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse, with immediate effect. active pest infestations, with live cockroaches and ants spotted roaming inside the kitchen and near inadequately covered drainage areas.
Investigators also discovered contaminated storage conditions, specifically blood and ketchup stains originating from non-vegetarian items directly on ice stored inside a refrigerator.
Furthermore, the establishment demonstrated compromised packaging and infrastructure, featuring raw food materials in torn packaging, heavy grease accumulation, deteriorated walls, and water stagnation. The restaurant also failed to comply with staff health regulations, as it could not produce mandatory records regarding annual medical examinations and vaccinations for its food handlers.
The regulatory body stressed that consumer health and rigorous hygiene standards apply uniformly to all dining establishments, regardless of their legacy or stature. Gallops Restaurant will remain closed for food operations until full compliance is verified and cleared by the authority.
