Acclaimed filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is set to revisit the gritty landscape of the Mumbai underworld with his highly anticipated crime drama, Police Company. Headlined by Harshvardhan Rane, the action-thriller has officially locked its nationwide theatrical release date for June 4, 2027.
Produced under the banners of T-Series Films and RGV Company production, the project marks a significant cinematic collaboration between Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Ram Gopal Varma.
The narrative serves as a spiritual counter-perspective to Varma’s cult classic film Company, shifting the lens from the operations of organized crime syndicates to the law enforcement officers who rose to confront them.
Harshvardhan Rane steps into a transformative lead role as the legendary Mumbai encounter specialist Daya Nayak. The narrative is heavily inspired by real-life characters and true events, focusing on the volatile period between 1997 and 2004 when a specialized police squad neutralized over 300 gangsters to dismantle the city’s criminal networks.
Varma explores how the extreme authority granted to an institution during exceptional circumstances can cause it to function with the ruthless efficiency of a corporate entity.
The film boasts a powerhouse ensemble cast alongside Rane, featuring Fardeen Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Paresh Rawal, Saurabh Shukla, Makarand Deshpande, and Ashwini Kalsekar. Presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series, Police Company promises to deliver a uncompromising, high-stakes cinematic experience when it arrives in theatres next summer
