Actor Richa Chadha in trouble over ‘Galwan’ tweet Filmmaker calls for FIR to be registered against her
Actor Richa Chaddha is in big trouble for mocking the Nation’s Security Forces in her tweet as ‘Galwan says hi’ . This has been highly criticized by various quarters.
The actor literally reacted to the statement of Northern Army Commander Lt General Upendra Dwivedi – that the Indian Army is ready to follow government orders on taking back parts of Kashmir illegally occupied by Pakistan.
Renowned Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit on Thursday has filed a complaint against Richa over tweet with the Juhu Police Station. He has come down heavily on the actor’s tweet and terming it as a ‘criminal act’ and calls for an FIR to be registered against her. She has deleted the tweet.
Notably, her comments has blatantly provoked the ire of social media and she was slammed for mocking the Indian Army and belittling the sacrifice of the jawans in the 2020 Galwan clash between India and China.
Sources reveal that she later apologised for unintentionally hurting the feelings of the ‘brothers in the Army’, adding her intention was not to offend anyone.
In a statement, the actor also talked about her family’s connection with the Army, and said her ‘nanaji’ as a Lt Col took a bullet in the leg in the Indo-China war in the 1960s. Her Mamaji was a paratropper. It’s in her blood, the actor pointed out while apologising for the controversy.
The actor further made it known that , a whole family is affected when their son is martyred or even injured amid saving the nation made up of people like us and she personally knows how it feels. It is an emotive issue for her.
Meanwhile, the the actor’s tweet has also not gone down well with the Federation of Western India Cine Employees, a film workers’ union in Mumbai. They have strongly condemned the actor for the ‘most irresponsible statement’ and demanded an ‘immediate unconditional apology’.
