India’s Gold Medalist Abhinav Bindra advices BCCI to take care of Rishabh Pant
Whilst the BCCI airlifted Cricketer Rishabh Pant who was seriously injured in a major car accident to Mumbai’s Dhirubhai Ambani Kokilaben Hospital, Abhinav Bindra, India’s first individual Olympic gold medallist, while welcoming the efforts of BCCI praised the apex body for sharing the responsibility of meeting all the medical expenses and subsequently advised them to take utmost care of the injured Cricketer till his full recovery.
Reportedly, Wicket Keeper batsman Rishabh Pant suffered a major road accident in the wee hours of the morning on December 30, 2022 as his car crashed with a divider on the Delhi-Dehradun expressway. He was driving to his mother’s house in Roorkee, Uttarakhand to ring in the New Year. He had a providential escape as he somehow jumped out of the car which later went ablaze. The Merc has been completely damaged and beyond repairs.
For the first aid, reportedly, he was admitted to Dehradun’s Max Hospital in Dehradun, where he was receiving treatment in the ICU at first, and was then later shifted to a private cabin for risk of infection. He has received some minor cuts on his forehead, and suffered a tear on his ligament. In fact, as per the BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah, the board will be taking full care of Pant at their own expense. Bindra also advised the Board to provide psychological support as part of the healing and recovery process.
Meanwhile, the BCCI released a statement revealing that they will shoulder full responsibility for all further medical treatment of Rishabh Pant. He will be under the direct supervision of Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, Head – the Centre for Sports Medicine, and Director – Arthroscopy & Shoulder Service at the hospital. Rishabh will undergo surgery and subsequent procedures for ligament tears and will continue to be monitored by the BCCI Medical Team throughout his recovery and rehabilitation.
