Not many may be versed that the late Melody Queen Lata Mangeshkar scripted history in recording four songs for “Hum Aapke Hain Kaun” just in one day.

She rendered the total 10 songs songs for “Hum Aapke Hain Kaun” in four days since she had to leave the country for her live concert.

Out of this Four songs were recorded in just one day to meet the deadline. The songs were all superhits especially “Didi Tera Devar Deewana”
The score changed the career of Raamlaxman (real name Vijay Patil) who had been struggling for a foothold since 1975.

But, the Musician’s fortunes changed when the songs of Rajshri’s Maine Pyar Kiya (in 1989) turned super hits, especially the song
“Dil Deewana Bin Sajna Ke” rendered by Lataji and SP Balasubramaniam.

There is an interesting history behind the Dil Deewana song. It was recorded much earlier for another Rajshri film Agent Vinod and not used until Raamlaxman refurbished it for Maine Pyar Kiya.

After Main Pyar Kiya and especially Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Raamlaxman considered Lataji his lucky mascot and insisted that she sing in nearly all his music soundtracks, which she charitably did. Some of Raamlaxman’s compositions for Lataji were of extremely mediocre quality which she sang out of goodwill.

A source close to the Rajshris reveals that Raamlaxman was upset and turned red on Lata Mangeshkar. But Lataji took it sportingly. No ill feelings and no
grudges.

The story behind the ugly episode:
Uttam Singh who was Raamlaxman’s Music arrange became an independent music composer in Yash Chopra’s Dil To Pagal Hai. Lataji sang 9 out of 10 tracks in Dil To Pagal Hai. This did not go down well with Raamlaxman. He became bitter and resentful.
