YRF founded by veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra in 1970 now being run by his son Aditya, is known for films Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Darr,
Dil To Pagal Hai, Mohabbatein, Ek Tha Tiger, War, Pathaan, among many others.

Now the production house has announced “The Great Indian Family” which notedly features Vicky Kaushal and helmed by Vijay Krishna Acharya. The film reportedly scheduled for theatrical release on 22 September.

Acharya, in the past has helmed films like Dhoom 3 and Thugs of Hindostan.

Akshaye Widhani, CEO, Yash Raj Films had said in a recent interview articulated that if 2022 taught them anything, it’s primarily that a huge star needs a very good story for a successful film. And it’s worldwide, not just in India.

Widhani added that the production house hasn’t announced any releases yet for 2024. Hence, in terms of releases, it could be a leaner year than 2022 or 2023.

For Diwali this year, It has scheduled Salman Khan-starrer Tiger 3. The strategy is they need to put out the best version of a film, and their audiences demand and anticipate that from YRF.

Today, they consume a lot of Hollywood content, and when a consumer gets certain technical effects, VFX or action design from one industry, they are right to expect it from other industries as well. So, YRF need to work harder with much smaller budgets and more limited resources.
