Mumbai witnesses 111 mm of rainfall 111 mm of rain recorded in two months oppp
Mumbai finally sees 111 mm of rain, the first three digit rains in almost two months. The last time it was in July and after that very little rain was seen.
The month of August also saw below normal rainfall with the first half remaining dry. The third week of the month saw some rain. In fact, the last 3 digit rains were observed between 18 and 28th of July. A double hundred rain episode was also seen one of the days.
There was hardly any rainfall in the first week of September before thursday and friday’s spell. The total for this month stands at 121.3 mm so far with September’s monthly normal remaining at 383.5 mm.
The Weather men predict more rain in Mumbai in view of the remnant of the Low Pressure Area which is stationed as a Cyclonic Circulation over East Madhya Pradesh region.
Along with this, the east-west-oriented shear zone of the system is also running very close to Mumbai.
The convergence zone has also formed in close proximity.
On Saturday, there will be moderate to heavy rains today with a slight reduction tomorrow, Sunday, but even then some heavy showers cannot be ruled out. After that rains may reduce gradually slowing down each day.
