Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge remains as one of the finest presentation from Yash Raj Films as of date. It’s a meritorious Hindi romantic comedy featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the pivotal roles.

The Aditya Chopra’s directorial , released in 1995, boasts of memorable songs. Mandira Bedi, also recognised as Preeti, shared her experience of grooving alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna song and revealed how choreographer Saroj Khan directed her to move her hips, a task she found challenging.

Mandira over an interview with Humans of Bombay, reminisced on grooving to Mehendi Laga Ke Rakhna with SRK in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. She shared, “Saroj Khan, an absolute legend, and she’s telling me, ‘You are shaking your shoulders like Sunny Deol. You need to shake your hips, women shake hips’. She (Mandira) couldn’t shake her hips for love or for money and she can’t do this.

Mandira further explained that the song presented a significant challenge. She expressed that it would have been preferable to ease into it with a few scenes beforehand. However, they began filming with the song, set in Filmistan, and she wore a unique orange and purple outfit, unlike anything she had worn before or since.

Mandira added that despite the initial difficulty, she eventually found enjoyment in it, gradually getting the hang of shaking her hips. Reflecting, she wished they had started with a scene instead.

Mandira Bedi lauded co-star Shah Rukh Khan and also shared her experience of working with him and Kajol. Heaping praises on them, she mentioned that Shah Rukh made her feel incredibly comfortable.

She shared that Shah Rukh Khan is such natural, and so a kind persona. Even with her retakes with the song he was very accommodative.
Kajol on the other hand didn’t talk to her the first few days, but eventually she did, and we all got along really well.

Mandira went on to chronicle the experience as extremely positive, filled with gratitude, and one she cherishes as a memorable chapter in her 22-day journey.

Coming to the professional front, Mandira Bedi made her entry in Bollywood through Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and later went on to appear in various films Shaadi Ka Laddoo, Dus Kahaniyaan, The Tashkent Files, Saaho, and others. Her latest appearance was in
The Railway Men in 2023.
