Actor-Producer Sohum Shah calls SRK, Aamir Salman his ‘3 gurus’: ‘

Sohum Shah actor and producer of Tumbbad looks upon Shah calls Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan his ‘3 gurus’ For him they are his Brahma, Vishnu & Mahesh’

Sohum went on to add that he considers the triplets of Hindi cinema the “last of the superstars” and has learnt a lot from them.

Sohum, having grown up in a small town in Rajasthan like many others had a wild dream to be like Shah Rukh Khan.

That dream transformed him and he is still in awe of the superstar. But, desires to embark on a journey all his own. In fact, the actor-producer thinks of Shah Rukh and his contemporaries Salman Khan and Aamir Khan more like his gurus.

Sohum, who ran a real estate business in home town Sri Ganganagar before setting foot to Mumbai, charted an extraordinary career path. He has acted and backed the cerebral Ship of Theseus and the horror film with a difference.
He re-released Tumbbad in theatres on September 13 and is also a familiar face to OTT viewers from his roles in Maharani and Dahaad.

He set his foot into the entertainment industry after watching Shah Rukh Khan of whom he is big fan. He recalled that there can be only one Shah Rukh Khan.

Adding that he is a charismatic persona but he is also somebody and god has created him with care. Sohum has no qualms or any sort of complaints that he isn’t SRK and he doesn’t even want to be. There is much pressure on him to come out of Mannat just to wave to his fans.

Though he has not directly worked with any of the three Khans, except for a small role in the Shah Rukh-produced OTT series Bard of Blood, the actor said he has been greatly influenced by them.

He went on to joke that If someone doesn’t have 5 percent of Shah Rukh in them they don’t have a right to live.

He further went on to stress that he grew up on mainstream cinema with Amitabh Bachchan’s 1991 actor Romesh Sharma produced hit film Hum being a particular favourite. He backs unconventional projects but his go to movies are still quintessential masala movies and comedies of all shapes.

Films like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Andaz Apna Apna, Hera Pheri, Welcome are some of Sohum’s favourite films in the genre. He can watch any kind of comedy film and there is no other genre that he likes very much… And now there are not many left for him to watch. He has also watched Golmaal and all Basu Chatterjee’s movies.

Sohum further went on to reveal that his cinema education has become more varied, thanks to the people he has been closely associated with in the last decade. They have helped him develop an eclectic taste in movies.

He also quoted that he got the opportunity to spend time with some good people and watch quality films very close to his heart. There is a French movie called Amour, about an old couple, talking about it still gives him goosebumps. Then there is an Iranian movie called A Separation. He had watched that film 10 years ago and still likes
it very much.

Likewise there was a film called Decision To Leave, a very slow film and not many people around him were able to watch it.

But whenever he wishes to watch a movie with his kids, he craves for a comedy.
