PM Modi meets Jordan’s King Abdullah IIibn Al Hussein bin

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday December 15, 2025 met Jordan’s King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein at the Husseiniya Palace in Amman and discussed issues of bilateral and regional interests.

PM Modi who was on a two-day visit to Jordan at the invitation of King Abdullah II, in a special gesture emblematic of the close ties amid the two countries, was warmly received by King Abdullah II.
Monday was the first leg of PM Modi’s three-nation trip aimed at further strengthening ties with them. He earlier said his visit to Jordan will boost bilateral linkages between the two nations.
PM Modi told King Abdullah II that he was confident that their meeting would give a new impetus and depth to India-Jordan ties.
Adding will continue cooperation in areas such as trade, fertilisers, digital technology, infrastructure and people-to-people ties.
PM Modi further said the two countries share a common and clear stance against terrorism and praised King Abdullah II’s “active and positive role” on the Gaza issue.
PM Modi further added that the country hopes that peace and stability will prevail in the region. The two countries share a common and clear stance against terrorism. Under the King’s leadership, Jordan has sent a strong and strategic message to the world against terrorism, extremism, and radicalisation.
He thanked the Jordanian King for extending a warm welcome to him and his delegation.
He said the King has shared very positive ideas for taking
India-Jordan relations to new heights and sincerely thank for his friendship and intense commitment to India. This year, they’re celebrating the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. This landmark will continue to inspire to move forward with renewed energy for many years to come.
PM Modi also recalled that amidst King Abdullah II’s visit to India in 2018, they participated in a conference on Islamic heritage.
And that his (King’s) efforts to promote moderation are extremely important not only for regional peace but also for global peace. PM Modi also went on to recall that their first meeting also took place on the sidelines of the U.N. in 2015, at an event focused on countering violent extremism. Even then, the King delivered inspirational remarks on this subject.
PM continued that India and Jordan will continue to move forward in this direction together and will further strengthen all other dimensions of mutual cooperation.
On his part, King Abdullah II said all Jordanians welcome PM Modi back to Jordan.
Adding that the Indian PM’s presence in Jordan carries intense significance as the two countries mark 75 years of diplomatic relations. PM believes this visit reflects decades of friendship, mutual respect and productive cooperation between our two nations and that the two nations enjoy a strong partnership, and share a desire to advance prosperity for the people of India. Over the years, their collaboration expanded across multiple sectors. King Abdullah said that his visit provides an important opportunity to chart new paths of economic cooperation,”
This full-fledged bilateral visit to Jordan is taking place after a span of 37 years, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. PM Modi had transited through Jordan in February 2018, while on his way to Palestine.
He said that his visit to Jordan will boost bilateral linkages between the two nations.
In a post in social media PM Modi said “Landed in Amman. Thankful to Mr. Jafar Hassan, Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, for the warm welcome at the airport,”and he is for sure this visit will boost bilateral linkages between the two nations.
First ‘bilateral’ in 37 years.This full-fledged bilateral visit to Jordan is taking place after 37 years, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
