Veteran Singer Yesudas facilitated AshaBhosle ‘s Malayalam song in 1977 hitSwayamvara Shubhadinap”

Veteran Malayalam filmmaker
Hariharan mentioned over a media interaction following the demise of
Melody Queen Asha Bhosle that
Veteran singer K.J. Yesudas facilitated Asha Bhosle’s only Malayalam song, the 1977 hit “‘Swayamvara Shubhadinap”. Though Yesudas bridged the gap by recommending composer Ravindra Jain, the iconic track from the film Sujatha was a collaborative effort to bring her unique voice to Malayalam cinema.

While working on Sujatha, Yesudas suggested Ravindra Jain for the music direction, leading to the involvement of Asha Bhosle.
Asha recorded the song “Swayamvara Shubhadina Mangalangal,” written by Mankombu Gopalakrishnan.
Producer P V Gangadharan and lyricist Mankombu Gopalakrishnan traveled to Mumbai’s R K Studios for the session.
It was a linguistic challenge for Asha Bhosle who recalled taking special care to master the pronunciation of the Malayalam lyrics, especially with tricky words like “priya thozhi,” yet delivered a perfect rendition.
Regardless being her only Malayalam song, it became an evergreen classic in Kerala and left a lasting impact.
