Dev Anand’s advice to Mumtaz—centered on meticulous self-care and maintaining a youthful spirit shaped her philosophy that age is merely a number and that beauty can be maintained through discipline. Mumtaz adopted Dev Anand’s mantra that one should “take care of yourself and that’s it”.

Mumtaz recalled that Dev Anand proved this at age 85 by showing her that he still had young admirers and “options”. Mumtaz shared that the advice to “apna khayal rakho aur achche lago” (take care of yourself and look good) has remained her mantra, influencing her to follow strict fitness regimens, including not eating after 6 pm, to maintain her appearance at 77+ Inspired by him, Mumtaz expressed that she wants to go “alert, agile, and ageless,” just like Dev Anand did. Mumtaz noted that she cannot be exactly like him, but she can “copy him” to maintain her own agelessness.
